The SilverFit Rephagia can be used by speech therapists with different specialisms and client groups:

(geriatric) residential care centers

Speech therapists can use the SilverFit Rephagia as support in the treatment of both somatic and psychogeriatric clients. For example, patients with Parkinson's disease often have difficulty coordinating and timing when using the swallow. By means of the visualisations in the SilverFit Rephagia it is possible to train precisely these aspects of swallowing.

(geriatric) rehabilitation

Patients who are recovering from a CVA or surgery in connection with treatment in the Oncology department can also be treated with the SilverFit Rephagia by a speech therapist. In a part of this patient group, oropharyngeal dysphagia is mainly present in the area of sensitivity or a power problem. Patients can train in a structured way by using the SilverFit Rephagia for treatment.

Intellectual disability

Due to the specific approach that a client with intellectual disability needs, it is often difficult to actually treat dysphagia. At present, this target group is mainly offered adapted food and compensation techniques. Research shows that the use of the SilverFit Rephagia with clients with an intellectual disability offers possibilities for swallow rehabilitation (Helmhout, 2018).

Hospitals

There are many different patient target groups within the hospital, both clinically and outpatient. By means of the SilverFit Rephagia, Intensive Care can be trained at a very early stage with swallowing. This allows the diet to be expanded earlier, which benefits the overall condition and thus the recovery of the patient (Spronk et al., 2017). With outpatient treatment, there is more time for an oropharyngeal dysphagia treatment trajectory when the patient is already at home.
