Crowdfunding for SilverFit Alois

Johnny van Straaten from Apeldoorn started a crowdfunding to provide a sponsored SilverFit Alois to the habitants of care homes Het Staatsliedenhuis and Het Zuiderparkhuis of Dagelijks Leven, a part of Orpea. These care homes provide small-scale living for people with (an advanced stage of) dementia.

The importance of being active for people with dementia

Johnny emphasizes the importance of being physical active for people with dementia. In the Dutch online newspaper De Stedendriehoek he says: “When people with (an early stage of) dementia are not physical active, they will end up in a downward spiral and lose their physical and mental capacities much quicker.” 

This is why he wants a SilverFit Alois in both care homes. The SilverFit Alois is especially made for people with dementia. The system provide a broad range of stimulating and relaxing activities – from seated dancing and cycling along familiair routes from the past, to playing a game of memory with personal pictures and looking at a real life aquarium. 

Physical active in an accessible way

Johnny is looking for sponsors who want to support him in his initiative. “Lets make sure we won’t forget these people. Let’s make sure this system will be available in both care homes, so residents can get physical active in an accessible way.”
